The people behind the can are in on it too, watch them move a little behind the can just before the men lift it. He is scurring out of the can just then. Then they have a double on the roof. Since when do trashmen in Times Square wear orange suits like that??

The guy on the roof was a double with a CB tuned to the same frequency. The first guy had a receding hairline and the second guy didn't. The same costume and eye-makeup are enough to fool the crowd - they don't need to be twins.

The blue bag hanging off the side of the can was very well secured, it didn't flop down when the can was flipped. I think it obscures a hole in the side of the can. The magician could be still in the can, his arms and legs are in the main part under the liner, while his head and butt are hanging out the hole and covered by the bag.

The men doing the flipping are in on it, since they would notice the weight.
