Your right these places are real. I work on FA-18's in the USN, so all i know is them, but a lot of structural parts are not made for them anymore. So we send someone to look for what is needed in a graveyard such as these here. Though ive never seen them this big... As spike said, access is controlled and most everythign useful is removed and repaired/put into supply.

This DMAFB. No you can't land there. No you can't just walk around there. Access is strickly controlled. I was active USAF and I couldn't get in. Used to be a larger bone-yard in Goodyear AZ where they had old fighters stacked like cord wood. I counted over 800 F-100's lined up at DM and over 1000 helo's lined up. What's really sad is to actually see the BUF's being hacked up by The Blade. The planes were flown in and the valuable parts removed. The white stuff you see over the windows, etc is a protective cover in case the planes need to be placed back in service.
